Brew it, Honey!

Coffee addict like me, read this!!!

SOURCE: Campus Journal

"Coffee" comes from the Latin form of the genus Coffea, a member of the Rubiaceae family which includes more than 6,000 species of tropical trees and shrubs.

There are about 25 major species within Coffea, but the tropical coffee drinker is likely to be familiar with two: Coffea Arabica and Caffea Canephora.

It's not easy to get a handle on caffeine and health, as it seems there's always conflicting research. However, apparently recent scientific research shows that coffee may actually beneficial, as drinking from two to four cups of coffee a day may lower the risk of Colon Cancer, Gallstones, Cirrhosis of the Liver and Parkinson's Disease, among other diseases. What's more, research has shown that coffee is an excellent anti-depressant and an effective performance enhancer.

But before all you caffeine addicts out there breathe a big sigh of relief, coffee like most things, has its drawbacks as well! It appears that drinking coffee may interface with your body's ability to keep homocysteine and cholesterol levels in check. Coffee has been previously associated with an increased risk of stroke and rheumatoid arthritis. Plus studies have also shown that caffeine in coffee can raise blood pressure and levels of stress hormones, and if consumed in large quantities it can lead to heart palpitations, jitters and nervousness. Finally, it's also proven that coffee can delay the onset of sleep.
