CO2, Kick the Habit

Mark the day, JUNE 5, 2008.
It's World Environment Day, and it's time for us to react and join the whole world to celebrate the special day and be aware on our environment.
Early this year, Dubai started to implement to 'No to Plastic Bag' campaign, thou it's a little bit slow on it's campaign, at least it's progressing. Now, stores here became aware and got involved not to use plastic bags and offer consumers to use jute bag.
One of my favorite bookstore here is Magrudys and I was happy that they participated in the upcoming event - World Environment Day.

Artificial Rain
Two days ago, residents and locals of UAE were surprised due to thunderstorms and unexpected rain. A rain in the month of May! It should be hot and humid because summer starts on June.
I checked GulfNews.com and found out that officials of NCMS (National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology) conducted a cloud seeding test. This is not my first time to experience an artificial rain because in our country government were performing this test especially during El Nino to prevent bigger disaster on agriculture, water resources, hydropower generation and other sectors.
NCMS objective for this project is to enhance the country’s national water resources, ground storage and recycling of freshwater.
- Al Mandoos, Gulf News
It’s good to hear that UAE got involved in this kind of project. A lot of residents and locals will benefit from this cloud-seeding testing especially during summer. Summer is really hottttt here.Labels: Environment Awareness, Life on edge

Safety First
A year ago, a group of inspiring Filipino Safety Officers and Engineers decided to form a group for all Pinoy in Dubai and then seek my help to create a web site for them. I thought they were not serious but before i knew it, they immediately bought a domain name for them.
I created a simple site, knowing that they will not pay me...hehehe. That's true, it's gratis/free/thank you...knowing i spent time for that...hahaha...
But seriously speaking, the group was so active and became well known in Dubai. Now they spread their wings and the group widens. They even create the same group in Abu Dhabi, another Emirate of UAE.
After one year, the group have been recognized in different organizations and became little popular only...hehehe, check them out here or here.
Congrats bro'

Dubai authorities gives an all out support to Earth Hour by switching off the lights on their iconic landmarks like Burj Al Arab. Hands off to Sheikh Maktum and all the people for supporting this cause. Dubai is the fist arab city to join Earth Hour.Labels: Environment Awareness, General
