Poor Me
Are you poor? Well don't frown because it's not the end of the world.
Being a poor is not a crime or a sin to covet thy neighbour’s wife.Being a poor is not a valid reason not to aim high for your dreams. One of the hypocrite's theory in this world is 'I give up my hopes and dreams because I am a poor'. I don't believe in that! You are such a loser!
You may be born poor, poor in physical things, poor in spiritual aspect or intellectually poor, well don't linger on that. I do believe that everyone has their own mind to decide, to choose and to fulfil their dreams. I called it attitude!
Having a positive attitude is a good way to start your dream. Start with small yet possible dream to achieve.
Like an old friend who celebrated her birthday yesterday. All she wanted was to have a small gathering with her friends and family but she can't because of financial problem. Until one friend started an email announcement, made plans and volunteered to bring something. Then another friend, then another and so on, till we made a celebration at the park to fulfil our friend's small dream. We may be poor in financial matters but we are rich with friends.
It's not bad to have a dream. It's free and a big challenge for yourself. So plan well and make sure you will not destroy someone's lives just to achieve it.
Happy birthday Inchang!!!

Please clean your backyard!
I thought I had enough freaking news of you, but each day I got worst!
What a damn good actress! How can you live a life like that!
It's acceptable to envy your so-called friends and create uproar between them, but to your own bloody relative? How could you stomach that? Stealing the loved one or fabricated a dramatic story to your lover so that he will hate your family? Can you still sleep peacefully at night knowing that you destroy someone's family (not only one but two)?
You have pretended enough! You used me to gained new friends. They trusted you and yet you fooled them. When you will stop and change?
If you think that your secret will never come out, think again! You should start cleaning your own backyard, and please don't leave your feces, it's stinking in your doorstep!
Get a grip and clean it!
I will keep quiet for a while and wait for more evidence until the coast is clear. Soon, your skeleton in the closet will be out and I'm pretty sure that you wish you have never used me or met me!Labels: Life on edge

Triple B
Blog is my only companion where I can pour out my ghastly feelings right now. It has been years since my last post and I thought I will never return to blogging with angst. But I'm wrong!
I just wanted to share with you one of my stories here in the land of oil and sand.
I was duped and devastated when I confirmed my suspicion.....
A year ago, I met a lady through a common friend. I even recommended her to replace my job when I was transferred to another place.
We jive instantly and our friendship developed. I even introduced her to my mom and to the rest of my family. In short, I have treated her as a sister. She was welcome to my circle of friends and was all amaze how good she was.
Little did I know that an angel face was a devil in disguise.
Triple B, that’s me! That’s how she refers me to her lover.
Bad Influence
Bitch (hmmm…sounds familiar)
Bugaw (Pimp in English).
A friend that I treasured and treated as a sister called me that! I was really devastated from all the lies that she invented against me towards her lover. I admit that I doubted her actions before, but I did not entertain the thoughts knowing that she is my friend. I even give her a chance to talk and to prove, on what I saw and witnessed before was wrong but she kept quiet. Until the bombshell was out!!!
I think triple B applies for her own agenda. Imagine this…
She uses my name everytime she went home late! - B.I.
She uses my name as an excuse whenever she wanted to go out! - Bitch
She uses my name whenever she wants to meet another guy. - Bugaw
What a life!
There are more shocking stories that need not to elaborate. All I can think of right now, my former friend is a true blue Madonna material girl in person.
Name it all, just imagine madonna’s video of material girl, she has all that.
A great pretender (trying to be clean and naïve) and user for the last 4 years to the old married guy for material things.
Right now, she doesn’t know that I already know her secrets. I must seal my lips and control my bitchy attitude till the situation is clear.Labels: Friends, Life on edge

Private sector holiday on Tuesday to mark UAE National Day
From Gulfnews.com
The private sector will get a one-day holiday on Tuesday, December 2, on the occasion of 37th UAE National Day.
Although no Memo was circulated today in the office but it's automatic here in UAE, meaning no work tomorrow! hurayyy!
I started working here during their 32nd year anniversary and wow it's already their 37th year. How time flies by!
The government were preparing a big celebration for the national day. Dubai started today for their national parade while Abu Dhabi will have the largest and record breaking fireworks display tomorrow.
Hmmm, that will be good.
Congratulations to all Emirati.Labels: Event, Life on edge

Packed in the Bag
I was inactive for some months. I thought I will not go back to blogging world but I do believe that once a blogger will always be a blogger, so I’m back.
Having a new work, a really new line of work, takes a lot of my time and energy. I thought I couldn’t make it but with the encouragement and push from my colleagues, I made it.
Funny but true, since I started working with my new work, 4 essential items are always present in my bag. My sunglasses, sun protection, after the sun care protection and first aid kits. Working at the site is really hard especially when it’s hot. Though it’s humid, I still wear sun protection and after the sun because I got burned during my first few weeks. You might be wondering why I include first aid kits, well I just want to be ready especially for pain relievers.
To my blogging friends, please forgive me for being out of action.Labels: General, Life on edge, Tips

Long Weekend
The private sector in the UAE will get a one-day holiday on Thursday, July 31, to mark Isra Wal Meraj - Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) ascension to heaven - it was announced on Sunday.
Tomorrow is a public holiday, and friday and saturday are weekend here....yehey! that mean's long weekend here in UAE.
But according to newspapers, it will be hot and humid long weekend which the temperature will range from 41 to 43C for the next three days. Hmmm, it means we must stay indoor and live couch potato style again.Labels: Event, General, Life on edge

79 people arrested for indecency at Dubai beaches
Hmmm, so the arrest of people for PDA (Public Display of Affection) is increasing. I'm wondering if these people knew the law here or they just ignore it but ignorance is not an excuse. One thing they should know, they are in an Arab country so they must respect the rules and regulation regarding the decency act in this place.
The police were also urging people to report immediately if any indecency act they witnesses.Labels: General, Life on edge

Where else to go?
Dubai municipality announces the fourth phase of smoking ban in public places, this time in billiards or snookers hall. I can understand banning smoking in internet cafes or e-games hall but billiards? oh my...
Restaurants, malls, public areas like hospitals area, family park, office building have already implemented the ban of smoking. It is a good move from the municipality and i adhere on every rule, but banning in billiards area...well, what to do!Labels: General, Health, Life on edge

It's about time for taxi inspectors
TransAD, the Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars in Abu Dhabi will dispatch taxi inspectors to monitor the long wait of taxis. It will ensure residents waiting time to hire a taxi. It good to know that TransAD quickly resolve residents problem on taxis especially this time, where temperature reaches 40-45C.
Residents can also file complaints or suggestion to some rude taxi drivers.
Thanks to TransAD!!!Labels: General, Life on edge

Canada Day on July 2 to be celebrated in UAE
UAE will be celebrating Canada Day on July 2 but not official public holiday! I thought it will be announced as public holiday so I could rest and take some time off shopping!
June and July is the time for Summer SALE here. Weekend is traffic-congested in the city because people come to take advantage of the offers and I am one of them. With the persistent price-hike, who wouldn't splurge on sale like this?Labels: Life on edge, Shopping

Dust besiege UAE
It’s been a week now since dusts besiege the whole emirates as well other Gulf countries. Somehow it’s better to hide from the sun but unfortunately it’s worst because breathing is a big problem. Dust particles remains in the air and it could attack one’s health. Allergies start to attack people especially me who has dust allergy. I’m sneezing for a couple of days now, others start to have a skin allergy and I’m worried for my pregnant sister.
According to the weatherman here, it will last until two more days, meaning we have to remain indoors during weekend.

USD1840 for a 30 days visit
Coming August 2008, UAE increases the visit visa fee from $386 to $1840 for a 30 days period only. There were speculations that with the new set of rules, the ministry wants to slow down the movement of visitors here and to stop expats bringing their relatives.
I somehow agree on that new rule because I admit, that there are some people here are using the visit visa as another means of easy money. They will lure their friends and relatives for a greener pastures work, charge them a higher price for the visit visa and it's a cold cash for that person. In the end, you will feel pity on the victim. Though, i knew that alot of people will got shock on this rule, but what to do, that's their rule.
Aside from that, another new rule was implemented. Only UAE nationals can bring their friends here. Hmmm, i dont believe this!Labels: General, Life on edge

June Celebrations
It’s summer time here. Schools are officially closed and students are enjoying their vacation. For students, it’s good for them but for us, it’s hotter than hell here. Temperature starts to rise from 39C up to 42C and we have to be ready for the coming month.
As for me, I’d rather stay home during this season. I have already collected my books to read, some movies to watch and of course my online shopping.
According to my planner, I have 3 celebrations to remember this month; Father’s Day, Gracielle’s birthday and Thanksgiving party of my sister. Since dad died 2 years ago, I will just light a candle and offer a pray for his soul. Gracielle will turn 5 and a chocolate lover. So I’m thinking of buying a chocolate cake on her birthday. Then the most awaited event in the family, my sister is pregnant. Yes, she is so happy because after 2 years of marriage, she’s pregnant now. Like my cousin in the US, both of them got married 2 years ago and now both of them are pregnant and they were so happy for each other. So my sister is planning to have a thanksgiving party next week and I must prepare it well or else my mom will kill me if I will not cooperate. Aside from preparation, I’m thinking of buying a gift not for my sister but for her baby. Actually it should be gift for babies for my sister and my cousin. Oh wow, a baby boom in our familyLabels: Book, Family, Food, Life on edge, Shopping

CO2, Kick the Habit

Mark the day, JUNE 5, 2008.
It's World Environment Day, and it's time for us to react and join the whole world to celebrate the special day and be aware on our environment.
Early this year, Dubai started to implement to 'No to Plastic Bag' campaign, thou it's a little bit slow on it's campaign, at least it's progressing. Now, stores here became aware and got involved not to use plastic bags and offer consumers to use jute bag.
One of my favorite bookstore here is Magrudys and I was happy that they participated in the upcoming event - World Environment Day.Labels: Environment Awareness, Event, Life on edge

Unplanned Indulgence
I just had a dinner with my friends and it has been long since I was with them. During the course of our conversation, we were teasing Ger for his forthcoming marriage proposal. If Julia Roberts was the star in Runaway Bride, I could compare Ger as a runaway groom. Not necessary he’s running away, but he always chicken out to propose to Adlin. With that, I agreed to buy them a wedding plaques made by Whitehall Products inorder to push through their wedding.
Then Joe joins the group feeling agitated because he got lost again. I inform him I will give address plaques not to be disoriented in the future. The group laughed out hard for Joe becomes absent minded for the last couple of weeks due to exhaustion from chatting and watching internet based movies. Rins alerted the group having fruit salad in their house and Joe’s eyes become big, even encouraging me to come along with them.
As we finished our dinner, I joke with Reen to make sure that their house numbers is visible to Joe. He might get lost... again!!!
I excused myself for not coming to their house for I must check my mailboxes. I need to check my bills. It was really good to be with friends again.Labels: Food, Friends, Life on edge, Tips

Your partner in LIFE
I called my cousin to check her condition. Last time we spoke, she’s pregnant and was so happy to relate the news to us, to become pregnant after 2 years of marriage. I was glad to know that she got matured in some ways. Her husband was so supportive on her needs. She even divulges that both of them decided to take a life insurance for their future. She enlighten me all the features of it and how important to insured your life.
Having got all the information from my cousin, I noticed that she really change a lot. From shopping till you drop, now she focuses her life on her family.
After my conversation with my cousin, I remember that my dad got a lump sum money from his disability insurance company when his health deteriorates and my mom received something as beneficiaries when dad died.
This is really beneficial to your love ones to acquire life insurance, now I’m thinking of acquiring one.Labels: Family, Life on edge, Tips

Do you have the right FACE?
If you think you have the right FACE, then you are IN.
Dubai will open a new nightclub who have a face controlled recognition to allow people inside their club. Meaning if your face matches their system you are IN, if not better luck next time.
It's my first time to hear a bar like Club Envy. Hmmm, it has cons and pros on it's rule, for sure people here will react. I will wait on that...Labels: General, Life on edge

No PDA Please
PDA (Public Display of Affection)
Women get jail and face deportation for kissing on Dubai public beach.
This morning, Gulf news article got my attention on two women (a Lebanese and Bulgarian) who got jailed and face deportation for hugging and kissing on public beach. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!
Dubai is one of the seven Emirates (state) of UAE. Even though Dubai is being develop and promoted as the main tourist spot in the UAE, the strict rule on public display of affection like kissing and hugging is a BIG taboo here.
UAE is an Islamic country though they permit other religions here, Expats who are working or visiting must follow that rule or face the consequences. Expats must keep in their mind to be aware on their adopted country, their rules and regulations and respect it.
This adage enters in my mind ‘When in Rome, be a Roman!’

Hacked
I was shocked when i read that one of the local newspaper website here in UAE was hacked. Yes it's true, Al Khaleej Times website has been hacked by Persian nationalist according to this story. It's good to know that the website coordinator noticed the bug immediately and was able to fix it within an hour.
Whew, what a day! I don't want to experience another hacking of site. It's still fresh from my mind when my hosting site company where i hosted my personal site got hacked and takes a month before restoring everything. Sad to say, all my previous posts were erased.Labels: Life on edge, Software
