New Year, New kid on the block

It's been long since the last time I updated my blog. A lot of things happened! With the ongoing worldwide crisis, even the land of the oil is experiencing the turmoil.

Enough with the negative news, let's move on to the positive one.

First thing, my sister delivered a baby girl a month ago. We celebrated her first month old yesterday. It was just a family dinner. So sad that my sister left two weeks ago, she needs to go back home for her work. Mom still with us, and she's having a problem wearing her shoes. I bought her a new boots for protection from cold. It's her first time to experience the coldness in this place. I opted to use my running shoes, for comfort and protection, and we were having a problem for the baby, she's getting bigger every week and all dressess and shoes does not fit to her anymore. So I joke with my sister that next time I shop online, I will buy a wedding shoes for her baby.

Christening of Haya, our new baby, will be on March. As early as today, my sister asked me and other godparents for a bigger size of baby shoes . She is being wise on that.

Cards for all season

Shopping malls is too crowded today because it’s the first day of Eid Al Adha. I couldn’t wait in the long cue for payment, so I decided not to purchase anything and headed to coffee shop. While sipping my cappuccino, I got an email from Tita Ann informing me something about the new offer of Blackhawk especially for this Holiday. It’s good thing that wifi works in this mall.

So I check this Gift Card Mall™ to ease my curiosity. I hesitate at first thinking that it was just another greeting cards. It’s not that I don’t like greetings cards, it’s so traditional. So when I checked on it, it’s really unique. Gift cards are a perfect gift to give this coming Christmas. It’s wise and trendy. You could even design your own card and most of all it is good for all season.

Take 5

It’s getting cold here and Christmas is everywhere. Would you believe that malls started to decorate their shops for Christmas season here? Five years ago, Christmas is just an ordinary day but now even local people became aware of Christmas.

Speaking of Christmas, I was really having trouble what kind of gift I will give to my friend. Every year, it was really a hard day for me to roam around the malls just to look for a perfect gift for him. This morning, I went to the mall to start my pre-Christmas shopping. Oh by the way, I’m enjoying my 5 days Eid Holiday. I took advantage of it to start my shopping.

It just so happen that I stumble on these 5.11 Tactical pants. It was cool, I even like it for myself. I checked it out and found out that I can even buy online. Wow that will be a big relief on my side. I’m more comfortable buying stuff online. I’m pretty sure he will love it. He likes military things although he’s not from military.

You know what I found out more? 5.11 Tactical have more brands, not just pants. I checked all their brands. They have shirts, shoes, bags, books, watches, eyewear, shorts, knives and pouches for mobile, guns, knives and more. They offer small size to larger ones pouches. What I love most is the 5.11 Tactical watches and the 5.11 Tactical eyewears. Oh my, I will forget my budget plan for now, I will start next year. If only my dad is still here, for sure he will like it also. He likes these things, we have the same taste. Anyhow, instead of buying for my friend only, now I have to include myself on this order.

Hey, it’s Christmas time, time to indulge yourself once in a while. Correct?

Back for Toys

It’s been three months since I hibernate in blogworld due to work load and I could not hide anymore especially for the coming month. Christmas is around the corner and for me this is the month for children. Though I don’t have any kids of my own, I have tons of nieces and nephews. My cousins, sisters and brothers started to remind about their kids gifts as well as for them. They always bug me every year for they knew that being single, I don’t spend too much. Yeah right, they have to think again. They even give me list about their gift ideas. Imagine that!

Anyway, I love my nephews and nieces so I started listing down their favorite toys like Nintendo Wii and Nintendo ds. My nieces have been reminding me about Nintendo ds for ages so I think this is the best time to give. I’m also thinking of buying some cheap toys as an extra gift incase some children knocks on my door.

Though life became a little bit hard here, I don’t want to disappoint my family. It’s Christmas, time for giving.

Canada Day on July 2 to be celebrated in UAE

UAE will be celebrating Canada Day on July 2 but not official public holiday! I thought it will be announced as public holiday so I could rest and take some time off shopping!

June and July is the time for Summer SALE here. Weekend is traffic-congested in the city because people come to take advantage of the offers and I am one of them. With the persistent price-hike, who wouldn't splurge on sale like this?

June Celebrations

It’s summer time here. Schools are officially closed and students are enjoying their vacation. For students, it’s good for them but for us, it’s hotter than hell here. Temperature starts to rise from 39C up to 42C and we have to be ready for the coming month.

As for me, I’d rather stay home during this season. I have already collected my books to read, some movies to watch and of course my online shopping.

According to my planner, I have 3 celebrations to remember this month; Father’s Day, Gracielle’s birthday and Thanksgiving party of my sister. Since dad died 2 years ago, I will just light a candle and offer a pray for his soul. Gracielle will turn 5 and a chocolate lover. So I’m thinking of buying a chocolate cake on her birthday. Then the most awaited event in the family, my sister is pregnant. Yes, she is so happy because after 2 years of marriage, she’s pregnant now. Like my cousin in the US, both of them got married 2 years ago and now both of them are pregnant and they were so happy for each other. So my sister is planning to have a thanksgiving party next week and I must prepare it well or else my mom will kill me if I will not cooperate. Aside from preparation, I’m thinking of buying a gift not for my sister but for her baby. Actually it should be gift for babies for my sister and my cousin. Oh wow, a baby boom in our family

Hassle-free Shopping

I received an overseas call from my cousin yesterday and she was so excited to share her good news. First she’s pregnant and was so excited being a first time Mom and two about the 2008 thanksgiving specials. I was confused about the second news because I couldn’t relate to the subject. Then she explained to me that in the US, Black Friday is day after Thanksgiving and it is the start of Christmas shopping season. So I learned another thing from her.

Aside from that, she heard that Black Friday website list all the retailers with discount products, offers direct links to all the stores and you could shop online without the hassle of going to the stores as early as 5am just to fall in line with other shoppers. She was so thrilled and thankful because it will be convenient and safe for her to shop online now that she’s pregnant.

So as early as yesterday she asked me what book I want as Christmas gift because Amazon store is included in the list. I was moved because until now she still remembers what I want. Then she also shared that Babies R Us and Toys R Us stores are included in the list which will be helpful for her to shop for her baby.

Hmm, this is good for I will be worried for her current condition once she shops because I knew her well regarding shopping.

Are words enough as reward or you prefer cash?

Word of praise or cash as reward for a job well done? What will you choose?

I read in the local newspaper about this article regarding what will you choose as a reward, cash or word of praise?

Most of the people working here, be in white collar or blue collar jobs are expats. These people were working hard away from their homeland and I am one of them.

In the present world we live in, I would prefer to receive a cash reward. Let’s be practical, all prices, foods, rents and other basic commodities are getting higher. Even shopping online shipping taxes are soaring high. So a cash reward is more rewarding and fulfilling thing to receive because once you received a cash reward, automatically it means you perform good. Word of praise will come later.

We might disagree on something, but I am open on your opinion.

Use your time wisely

Tired of scanning the newspaper classified ads and found nothing that suit to your taste and needs? Tired of comparing the advantages and disadvantages of buying used cars? Why suffer comparing and enduring your time when you can shop online and ask the experts advise?

I know that acquiring used cars needs a lot of thinking especially the model, maker and the previous owner. Take it from me, I undergo the same experience like you. It’s good that I listen to my friend to seek help from the expert.

Your adviser will also inform you about the best time of the day to inspect the car and the more important thing is your allotted budget.

So don’t feel shy to inform your adviser and ask everything you need. Remember it will be your car. It’s better to lay down all your plans and be truthful on your needs because your adviser will give you list of pointers on how to avoid being conned.

Let’s Talk about Fashion

In my previous posts, I mentioned that Shopping is one of my hobbies. That’s true, but due to climate change here, humid starts to engulf the city and worst, some people are agitated on small things. I would rather stick to my place after work, rest and get refresh from toxic day and start shopping online. One of the benefits of shopping online is that you can select, browse and feel relax anytime you want. No need to worry of walking around till your legs starts to ache, or developed muscles on your legs or build-up varicose veins.

Since summer is coming, I need to change my outfit for lighter clothes. I might be out of fashion today because I rarely watch TV or movies but it is a heaven sent that I heard about the 4 women lives and tips on fashion, books and travels. What a lovely coincidence because we share a lot of common things and it is just a web away. Yes, my dear friends it is not a Grapevine, these four women really share their fashion tips as well as their professional skills, family life, hobbies and strategy in life and they are giving their viewers a chance to share their own insights as well.

Have time to check on them, I tell you, it’s worth your time.

One more Chance

Shopping is the best medicine. That is our motto. My cousin is my business partner in crime when it comes to shopping. We love to shop. Whenever SALE season is coming up, expect us to be there with our handy credit cards. Our shopping spree was shortened when my cousin migrated in California and I am here in the desert. Through chats and calls, I found out that my cousin continued her shopping spree and even engaged for higher loans like personal and auto loans. Due to unexpected problem that arises from my cousin’s family, she became a delinquent payer and worst, tag as a bad creditor.

Shopaholic, it's true!!!

One of my worst hobby during my foul mood is shopping....hehehe but i make sure that i buy things that i can use. I'm not a typical shopaholic who shop till they drop and buying nonsense things/dress are a big NO for me.
